From the preview of Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, revised ed. (1993) by Robert B. Cialdini at the Cathedral bookstore:
The evidence suggests that the ever-accelerating pace and informational crush of modern life will make this particular form of unthinking compliance more and more prevalent in the future. It will be increasingly important for the society, therefore, to understand the how and why of automatic influence.
Two points. The first is that we are in an attention-bound economy and, moreover, society. For more see “Trap of the New Normal” dated 25 May 2015. Secondly, as my readers ought to know, “What’s this we shit, white man?” There is duplicity in the word ‘society’. Western soldiers do not fight for their country any more than I am a supermodel, etc. According to the company information, first paragraph, at the Influence at Work website, ‘IAW serves an international audience that includes a spectrum of multinational corporations, governmental agencies, private enterprises and higher education’. I don’t readily see a listing of those organizations. We can infer that elite professional persuaders make a living engineering the function of the matrix.
After listening to the first nine installments of the podcast Womanizer’s Bible by Nick Krauser, I can tell you that Nick has read Dangerous Men and Adventurous Women: Romance Writers on the Appeal of the Romance (New Cultural Studies) edited by Jayne Ann Krentz. I can tell you he tells his targets that he is English to provide plot grist for an adventure that has already been programmed into the hottie’s mind by nature or government propaganda. He is in Eastern Europe when he says that. That is bending the matrix for private use.
Is there a way we can generalize bending to improve most facets of our lives? We might be able to move from inept defenders of tangible property and producer property rights to artisans of sheeple-think intellectual property created and maintained by the establishment. We deserve some value for our troubles.
If you have other bending ideas, let’s read them!
Yours in patriarchy,
